Creating Waves of Change: Alexander Paul Burton Featured in Volunteer Toronto’s NVW 2025 Spotlight

I’m honoured to be featured by Volunteer Toronto as part of their National Volunteer Week 2025 Community Member Spotlight! This year’s theme, Creating Waves of Change, recognises individuals whose contributions create lasting ripples in their communities—and I’m proud to be included among such inspiring changemakers.

Volunteering has always been a central part of my life, especially in supporting LGBTQ+ communities, mental health initiatives, and food security. It’s deeply moving to see this work acknowledged, and it reinforces why community engagement is so essential in today’s world.

In the spotlight feature, I share my motivations, the challenges I’ve faced, and the vision I hold for building inclusive, creative, and compassionate spaces. From running projects like the OUTLINE Awards to advocating through my writing and music, every step has been driven by a desire to help people feel seen, safe, and supported.

This recognition is a beautiful reminder that small actions really do ripple outward. If you’re looking to get involved in your own way—whether through volunteering, advocacy, or creativity—know that your voice matters. You have the power to create waves, too.
